Poet Dylan Thomas was born in Swansea and the annual Dylan Thomas Festival is internationally renowned – 2 weeks of performance, readings, film and international celebrity speakers. Held (in 2010) between the anniversary of his birth and death, 27 October to 9 November
Also, celebrating Dylan Thomas, The Laugharne Weekend, 9 – 11 April, is a cool weekend of music, talks the best in Welsh culture and literature, all set in this coastal town, location of his beloved former home ,The Boathouse’
Also in Carmarthenshire, the annual Llandeilo Festival also gets the big names and the performances are varied in venue and type – from international soprano Katherine Jenkins singing in an historic garden setting to smaller recitals in beautiful local churches.
